Blog Migration
It seems that Blogger is changing their mature content policy. I'm in the process of moving my blog to sybeleplays.com so please visit me there but have patience. I'll be updating here as well for awhile but I don't know how long it will be before Blogger says no more. =(

Waiting for the Phantom
Earlier in the week, I was asked out on a date in the hottest way ever and finally Saturday came! Volare arranged everything from out of state and kept it almost entirely a surprise except to tell me that the night's attire should be more formal. He also laster gave me a little hint--a tagline--that set me to suspecting what we might be doing on Saturday night.
Saturday dawned bright and full of snow and I was tense all day that Volare's flight would be canceled and I wouldn't get to see him. I had been looking forward to it ALL week and I could barely stand to look out the window to see how much snow had fallen. I kept myself busy with Saturday morning chores and lots of music and the hours ticked slowly away until he finally boarded the plane. It took off with only about fifteen minutes delay but made up nearly all of the time. Volare sent me updates as he landed, collected his bag, and got to his car but then he texted me to ask me if I knew if the one tunnel was closed. It was. I gave him directions for a detour in case his gps was being stubborn and trying to send him through the closure anyway.
He made it in plenty of time to whisk me downtown to the hotel where we were staying but I wouldn't have cared if he was late so long as he made it safe. The roads just into downtown were a mess; they were snowy, slushy, and icy all at once. Volare pulled into the William Penn Hotel which is a beautiful old hotel in downtown that I've always wanted to stay in. We impatiently waited for the bellhop to bring up our bags and then clothes were being flung across the room. Somehow he separated himself from me and we got dressed. Then we headed to the theatre to see the Phantom of the Opera!
Our seats were right up front and close enough to see the actors expressions and feel the vibrations from the orchestra below us. It's been years since I've seen the Phantom and I was thrilled to be seeing it again. A couple of months ago I had received a flyer in the mail about the show coming and I wanted to go but had done nothing about it and yet, here I was seeing it after all! It was just as enjoyable as I remembered though the actor playing the Phantom played him a little creepier than in the last performance I had watched. I didn't feel as much sympathy for him the way I normally do but interestingly that only served to make me see Raoul's side a bit more.
The first time I ever listened to the soundtrack from the Phantom of the Opera was with the original cast recording with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman when i was about fifteen years old. I fell in love with it then and had the luck to see it about a year later at the Pantages Theatre in Toronto (sadly, I don't remember who the performers were) and I do think it's my favorite musical I've ever seen. I saw it again several years ago and this time with Volare was my third time. It just gets better each and every time. The CD will be coming my way soon but I think it will be the soundtrack from the movie. I think the emotion in the Phantom's voice as sung by Gerard Butler is so pure and heartbreaking.

Monday Morn Randoms
have you ever tried to draw cherries upside down on yourself? it's not easy |
1. My Hozier and Milky Chance Cds came in the mail! I've secured tickets for Milky Chance but not for Hozier yet. They are both coming to Stage AE but Milky Chance is only inside. Hozier is an outdoor concert there later in the summer but I've never attended an outside one at Stage AE. I'm not sure how to go about purchasing tickets because I don't know how they do the seating/what's necessary for a good seat/etc.
oh gods i want these shoes so bad!! so crazy! |
*a bit of backstory--ggW sorta dated this guy for 5 years and then he came out gay. they ended up becoming really good friends and he asked her to help him do one of those clone a willy kits* |
3. Sparkly peep toe stiletto heels were absolutely the right choice to wear to the Benedum. I don't care how much snow and slush there was--they were perfect!
4. Gogol Bordello is a new (to me) band that's um...kinda crazy...but I really like it. The singer sings kind of wild and passionate about a real mix of subjects but I like that he puts his heart into it and the music has a very rock gypsy sound that really appeals to me. I think maybe because I often think I have gypsy in my blood somewhere--lol!
i like helping make beds look like this |
new teeny cute evening bag |
6. Hobo Princess is doing so well! She's moving almost completely normally...on FOUR working legs. This makes me so happy! I can't wait until her fur on her leg grows back in because it's
really funny looking right now and sometimes makes an optical illusion that her leg is
crooked when it's not.
except this is sort of everyday =\ |
7. I hope work flies this week. Or I get lots of texts. And lots of tweets. And game turns played.
hey! first time I had tuna that wasn't in a can. so much better! |
8. Rff is not handling Volare well.
9. I had the flooring guy out to take measurements and I'm supposed to hear today what the estimate is. My fingers are crossed that it's in the range I'm expecting and hoping for.
so much for dinner that night |
10. My new dishwasher is coming on Thursday and I am stupidly adult excited about this. I'm really hoping it's not a lemon like my last one was.
Someone New ~~ Music Mondays
Music Mondays--current music love of the week...though sometimes it's weeks and weeks before I have an actual 'love.' Right now, it's no secret that I'm obsessed with Hozier and I particularly like the song 'Someone New'
Someone New -- Hozier
Don't take this the wrong way
You knew who I was every step that I ran to you
Only blue or black days
Electing strange perfections in any stranger I choose
Would things be easier if there was a right way
Honey there is no right way
And so I fall in love just a little ol' little bit
Every day with someone new
I fall in love just a little ol' little bit every day with someone new
I fall in love just a little ol' little bit every day with someone new
I fall in love just a little ol' little bit every day with someone new
There's an art to life's distractions
Somehow escapes the burning weight the art of scraping through
Some like to imagine
The dark caress of someone else I guess any thrill will do
Would things be easier if there was a right way
Honey there is no right way
And so I fall in love just a little ol' little bit
Every day with someone new
I fall in love just a little ol' little bit every day with someone new
I fall in love just a little ol' little bit every day with someone new
I fall in love just a little ol' little bit every day with someone new

The Grand Concourse
The Grand Concourse |
Volare and I had brunch at The Grand Concourse which is a place I've often heard about but never had been to before. I especially have been wanting to go since he told me about the donut machine they had there because who doesn't love hot donuts??
We were seated with a view of the city and the semi-frozen river.
Oh gods...this donut! It's definitely a rival for Peace, Love, and Little Donuts.
I had a piece of fish with my bacon and omelet. Why? Because I could. I was going back to get just a tiny taste of something more and then I saw this:
Holy crap! Candy! That was a bad thing to spot because...
...then my eyes grew bigger than my stomach. I didn't finish any of this and didn't even touch some of them but seafood and candy for brunch! Sheesh! I'm so glad I'm an adult.

You Suck, Stupid Leg
greek yogurt, small cheese omelet |
ggW and I raided the fridge to come up with breakfast today made from the odds and ends left over from the week. We don't like to leave things in the office fridge over the weekend if we can help it. I really wanted hard boiled eggs but I was too impatient to wait long enough to make them.
cappucino with cinnamon sugar |
The coffee craving was strong today. It's still going strong. I literally cannot wait to go to sleep so I can wake up just to have a cup. I love/hate that.
half chicken caesar salad |
I abandoned the apple; I didn't like the look of it. I met Switch for a cup of tea after work and then met up with Achmed and we went to the gym together. It felt good to get it done but it sort of sucked during because I was starving and hadn't had dinner yet. I did about 45 minutes of cardio and then we did some weights. I'm striving for weights three days a week. He says it's going to be a couple times before we figure out what's my sweet spot weight wise. Achmed also had me try one of the leg machines with a lower weight but at the end of just a couple my stupid leg just stopped working and shocked us both when the weight crashed down. I was horrified and embarrassed.
green juice, veggie burger, grapes |
Dinner was kind of an awful hodge-podge sort of affair because it was late and I think I need to go grocery shopping. I also snacked on some mesquite smoked deli turkey while pouring a glass of riesling because I was still ravenous. I'm pretty sure wine isn't the way to re-hydrate after a workout but I don't care. Not one little bit.
Second Rate NPF
Here, have this second rate No Pants Friday Pic =(
Not inspired* this week for NPF. It's too cold!
*ETA: I may quite possibly have had a tiny bit of a late morning inspiration. Stay tuned! Blogger doesn't like to do edits from my phone if it involves a picture.
